Just got back from my daily walk -- this time up two blocks to Gluttons and Food Fare and back, loaded with groceries.

Time to count some blessings, I think.

I live in a great neighborhood: residential bordering on the Corydon "Little Italy" strip, full of restaurants, bars, and shops. As I walked to and from the stores, I considered how, in spite of the grey sky and misty rain, the 80-foot-tall elm trees arching over the streets and the yards on either side were lush and fertile and smelled wonderful. I'm lucky to live in a city that's so crammed with trees, so fresh and green in the summer, even if it's white and barren in the winter.

That, and walking is becoming easier and easier. I think I've lost weight and gained some muscle.

At Gluttons, I found two lemon-herb chicken breasts and a mouth-watering Shepherd's Pie in the takeout display case. Combined with the California mix frozen veg I grabbed at Food Fare (6.5 carbs per cup, Goddess bless cauliflower and broccoli!), either option will make a great dinner. In my rather depressed mood I'm sorely tempted to throw caution and carbs to the winds and dig in right now, but I only have to wait until about 5:15 to hit my 4-hour window, so I think I can hold out that long.

Important and rather heartening: in spite of the stress and my unhappiness over GG, I'm able to at least consider looking at the bright side. I had 6 issues with them, all of them comprising some pretty lovely painting on my part. That's a good body of work to go shopping around with when I look for more color work.

Also important, and it has me quietly marvelling: no urge to self-harm. The painful path that had become all to familiar -- stress>suffering>rage>inward>self-harm -- seems to be blocked by a glass wall. If it's the Ritalin, one more blessing to be counted.

I can personally endorse walking as a *great* form of exercise: I don't/can't drive, so I walk everywhere, which keeps me in good shape.
