Just got back from my daily walk -- this time up two blocks to Gluttons and Food Fare and back, loaded with groceries.

Time to count some blessings, I think.

I live in a great neighborhood: residential bordering on the Corydon "Little Italy" strip, full of restaurants, bars, and shops. As I walked to and from the stores, I considered how, in spite of the grey sky and misty rain, the 80-foot-tall elm trees arching over the streets and the yards on either side were lush and fertile and smelled wonderful. I'm lucky to live in a city that's so crammed with trees, so fresh and green in the summer, even if it's white and barren in the winter.

That, and walking is becoming easier and easier. I think I've lost weight and gained some muscle.

At Gluttons, I found two lemon-herb chicken breasts and a mouth-watering Shepherd's Pie in the takeout display case. Combined with the California mix frozen veg I grabbed at Food Fare (6.5 carbs per cup, Goddess bless cauliflower and broccoli!), either option will make a great dinner. In my rather depressed mood I'm sorely tempted to throw caution and carbs to the winds and dig in right now, but I only have to wait until about 5:15 to hit my 4-hour window, so I think I can hold out that long.

Important and rather heartening: in spite of the stress and my unhappiness over GG, I'm able to at least consider looking at the bright side. I had 6 issues with them, all of them comprising some pretty lovely painting on my part. That's a good body of work to go shopping around with when I look for more color work.

Also important, and it has me quietly marvelling: no urge to self-harm. The painful path that had become all to familiar -- stress>suffering>rage>inward>self-harm -- seems to be blocked by a glass wall. If it's the Ritalin, one more blessing to be counted.

I'd like that very much. Er, what days are you open again? *blush*

I have medical tests in the morning both Monday and Tuesday, so early afternoon either day would work well.

Monday I'm off work at Noon.
Tuesday I have a Dr's appt too at 1:15 and should be back 'round 2-ish...

Which day works better for you in regards to how crappy you might feel after medical testing?

Monday, no question. That's the day they just inject me with radioactive particles, not run me on a treadmill until I'm near collapse. Plus, everything starts at 8:30 am and therefore is likely to be over sooner.

Let's see... *calculating the time*. This is all at a hospital, so who knows how long the waiting time might be between parts of the test... should I just call your cell when I have a better idea of the timing, or come to Starbucks if I'm back in the Corydon area by noon?

moses carries the cell almost 100% of the time.... if your back 'round noon drop by SBUX and that'll be fine, if you don't drop in by then i'll come home and then you can call the cell and i'll come over :D sound good?

I can personally endorse walking as a *great* form of exercise: I don't/can't drive, so I walk everywhere, which keeps me in good shape.

Glad to hear you are doing better!
Yes, i agree, Corydon is a lovely place to live, i loved living there too. Wolsely is pretty nice as well. Gonna miss it when i move to yuppieville Sept.1 (river heights, grant ave) but considering i grew up around there i'll be used to it..and it's walking distance from Corydon!

Where I live, there's few decent trees. However, there's two really cute parks and it's fun bathing in the shadows of the wonderful elms at these places :-). I hope I can move downtown in the future.. someplace with a one bedroom apartment I can afford and LOTS of beautiful trees. My sister live near broadway and it's loaded with nature, despite the constant rush of cars. To make things even cooler, she's close to the Bears On Broadway. BONUS!

Glad you're feeling better! We should all do a coffee and movie night. I miss you guys!
