Thanks to the kind folks of LiveJournal, free accounts can now have six userpics, so of course one of mine HAD to be of Smith. I'll probably end up using him for particularly snarky entries, much as I use the crow-in-pentacle symbol for religion-themed posts and Neo's "I need a hug" icon for sentimental ones and posts to [livejournal.com profile] mtx_deg_sep.

I just finished my 25 minutes of step training for the day -- not much fun with the sore throat, burning sinuses, and generally achy body I woke up with, but I do feel much more energized now than I did previous.

Also made some phone calls tonight regarding the Full Moon ritual on Saturday evening. So far, it looks like there'll be at least four of us, possibly six, and we'll be doing a warding of my apartment (long overdue, since I've been living here more than a year). I'm hoping to pawn off the main dish portion of the proceedings onto someone else, since I really don't feel like cooking anything complicated (cooking being my least favorite activity at the best of times).

Back to doing true-color flats on Hardy Boys.

And just for shits and giggles, some before-and-after samples from Girl Genius )

By the way, Laurie, I _love_ your colors. I hereby give you a hand. A big one. Sorry about the blood, but I assure you, its quite fresh! :) Seriously, I love your stuff, and I look forward to seeing what you do with the first collection!

This last page, especially, is quite lovely, and invokes the shadows and night-under-trees beautifully. "Hoo-BAH!" as we used to say before the borders changed ...

*glows*

What can I say? It doesn't take much to make me feel good, some days.

The End... of my time on the regular Girl Genius comic. Here is my last page of color.

At the top of it, Kaja Foglio put up a very nice note:

This page marks the end of what will be the Girl Genius Collection Vol.4. I want to take this chance to thank Laurie E. Smith, our dauntless colorist, who has been with us since Agatha and Gil took out that big slaver-wasp thing. We're switching gears again on Monday, so a big hand for Laurie, her lovely colors and all her hard work. Thank you!

Which was frankly more than I dared to hope for.

To paraphrase a certain country music song, It ain't pretty -- it just looks that way!

*buries head in hands*

Every so often, the G4 seems to have a fit and starts crashing Photoshop every 5 minutes. Is it the heat? Is it a corruption of Quicktime? Is it croggled preferences? Is it gremlins?

Who knows? Surely not I. It is frustrating in the extreme, and George is the only one who seems to have any luck fixing the problem. Yesterday, therefore, he took a couple of hours and did a reinstall of OS 9.1 and various applications, trying to lock things down.

The damned thing was working fine last night, then today it started pulling the crash-and-burn routine all over again. I suspect it might be a problem with Mozilla, so I've switched to Explorer for the time being.

*removes head from hands and beats it against the nearest wall*

And with just one more page of Girl Genius to finish...
