Slept a little better last night, only waking up in discomfort a few times. I dragged myself out of bed at about noon and phoned Ipsos to let them know that I was too flu-ish and sore in the throat to pull tonight's shift. Then George and I went out to the bank, stopping for lunch/breakfast along the way. My mom needed to borrow some money, so I transferred some into her account when I deposited the latest Hardy Boys cheque. Heh. Now I have enough money on hand to cover the Beltane in the Park expenses -- beef and veggie burgers, soft drinks, Maypole fabric, etc -- by myself if need be. Note to self: get in touch with the Circle of Artemis LJ and find out how the Maypole preparations have been going.

We walked the six blocks home from the bank/restaurant, stopping at two-block intervals along the way (at the PharmaPlus to pick up some sugar-free throat lozenges and at the Food Fare to grab some fresh veggies, canned soup, eggs, and bread). It nearly killed me. Even getting dressed to go out made me feel tired, but since we took the bus up to the bank I didn't really have to put in a lot of effort until that six block return trip. Whew... I have enough energy to stay awake and return to work on The Eternals (four pages to go, woot!), but not by much.

Last night I was in a miserable mood. Broke down crying once for no particular reason, and spent the rest of the day in a blue funk. So of course I resorted to comfort food and ordered a pizza -- but not just any pizza. This one came from Diana's Gourmet Pizzeria, complete with a 100% whole wheat thin crust. And it was AMAZING. It also did wonderful things to my blood sugar readings, assuring me that it was worth the extra expense (a 16-inch three topping pizza cost $28) for a wholesome treat.

Back to work. Heigh ho, heigh ho.

My God, I had no idea there was such a thing as a World Pizza Championship. And Canada has a Pizza Team!

That is so wonderful ...

hey Laurie
Sorry to hear that you are still under the weather. I love how your journals are always so amazingly detailed LOL. Diana's pizza is very yummy, we used to have it at women's centre collectives.
