I was actually up at 9 am this morning. Go me!

And now, a meme courtesy of "tribal_tiger" over on IJ.

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

Went out to lunch with Corey to Cafe 22, which is the restaurant wing of a local cheap-and-filling pizza delivery chain. Pictures here. Pepperoni and mushroom pizza and a Caesar salad... mmm.

I just got home, and my body is already starting to prompt me: Exercise? Are we exercising now? How about now? *laughs* Funny how that works. Five days ago, you practically had to apply a cattle prod to my nether regions to get me out of my chair. Now it's bounce bounce, look longingly at the step exercise equipment... which is a good thing.

On my way to the restaurant I stopped in at the Pack & Post just up the street to pick up a FedEx envelope they'd called me about yesterday. I expected to find a cheque from the HB parent company for a couple of covers I'd done for them. Oh, the covers were on there -- and so was $1100+ dollars for the last third of the last HB graphic novel.

???

I was pretty sure that I'd already been paid for the last third of said graphic novel.

So as soon as I got home I checked my paperwork, and sure enough... *sigh*. This means that I can't deposit the cheque for the amount I am owed and will have to wait a few more days for that amount. Unless, of course, the president of the HB parent company decides to let me keep the money as an advance payment for the first third of the next book.

I'm not getting my hopes up. And upon checking the cheque, I've noticed that it's actually made out to "(my name)/Pack & Post". D'oh. That's the kind of mistake that might make it impossible for me to cash the cheque at all.

EDITED TO ADD: Oh, and Foodfare had baron of beef roasts on for $2.89/lb. I picked up a five pounder. Later, there will be tasty meat!

Just received from the president of the company that produces HB... excellent news.

Looks like you're getting confused and I would suggest you start numbering your invoices. The first one we put in as 012808 means received January 28, 2008 and that was for the 2nd portion. The next is 021208 which means Feb 12, 2008 and is the 3rd part. I don't think we've paid anything twice...
Hey, you weren't even expecting this payment! Found money! Yey!
;)

Hoorah! Now as long as I can deposit the cheque with the Pack & Post name on it, I'm off to the races.

I'm so fortunate to have the editors and other professional associates that I do. They're uniformly wonderful people to work with. Wasn't that just about the gentlest reproof you've ever seen?

*sigh* There was a time when I could keep effortless track of this stuff in my head. Ah, the sorrows of passing the age of forty!

With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] metisbutterfly for pointing out the nshrine service to me...

I have set up two virtual shrines, one dedicated to Brigid, the Celtic Goddess of poets, smiths, and red-haired women, and one dedicated to the Morrigan, the Celtic Goddess of war, death, and transformation. Please feel free to stop by and light a candle in honor of Them or as an act of prayer.

Blessed be.

I was just transferring the cooked baron of beef roast to a serving plate when depression hit me in a slow wave. It felt as if something inside me had suddenly lain down and died.

Sometimes it hits that fast. And I'm not sure how long it will last, which is the real bitch of the matter.

Ah, well. *digs in and battens down the hatches* I'll just have to take it hour to hour and minute to minute if necessary, getting through the small steps of the day. That I'm able to think in those terms tells me that I'm still in the upper reaches of depression, not truly into the numbing, incapacitating depths.

More coffee is on. And the roast turned out pretty well. Here's hoping that tomorrow I won't be deeper in, since I have the second Wen-Do class to attend.

Back to work.

Apparently I'm not depressed enough to avoid creating a Wiccan shrine at nshrine.com.

*sigh* When I'm feeling low I tend to seek... distractions.

I'm still not getting up to speed on the MM pages, and I've been very distractible today. Blast.

Things accomplished today )

Tomorrow is Wen-Do, which will probably fag me right out. If I do more than make those A.I.: Artificial Intelligence icons tomorrow night I'll be very surprised.

(Oh, and by the way, if you ever get a chance to watch a soft-core porn movie called Passion Fever (formerly Fever), I suggest you do so. It's been playing on the Drive-In Classics channel while I was working this evening, and it's wonderfully bad. Bad acting, bad dubbing (it was originally Greek), bad editing, bad music... I'm amazed that anyone could turn out such a product, yet there it is. Also check out the credits of Doris Wishman, one of the directors: she's had a LOT of pseudonyms, and oddly enough she also directed Nude on the Moon, which is also one of my favorite cheesy movies. But I digress. A lot.)
