30 cm of snow

Holy crap. 30 centimetres of snow over the last couple of days! (That's 11.7 inches to my American friends.) According to the Weather Network, that's as much snow as we usually receive in all of November. And it's -22 C with the windchill! (-8 F... brrrrrr!)

Roads are in bad shape and I can only imagine what the sidewalks must be like. Think I'll be taking it slow and easy today... and I think I'll head straight out to the Health Sciences Centre as opposed to trying a trip to the bank today. Given that I have a 2 pm appointment with my psych nurse, that it's already 12:44, and that I have to catch a 1:30 bus from this end of town to get there, I don't know if I'll have enough turn-around time to get to the bank and back to the right bus stop.

The house is a bit of a mess. Hope George and I have time to get it cleaned up for Murtagh... oh, and eastpath, no worries -- we're having him in to give Emmie a general check-up. She was limping quite badly a week and a half ago on her right forepaw, but is much better now. It might be arthritis; if so, we'll look into what meds we need to give her to keep her comfortable.

Off to dig my tuque out of the living room closet...

Emmie's limp

The vet has been and gone, and the verdict is a muscle sprain behind Emmie's right shoulder -- an ongoing injury from three or so months ago, getting better and worse as Emmie heals a little and then re-stresses the muscle. Poor baby!!! The good news is that in every other respect, she's healthy as a little horse.

Tomorrow morning George and I have to do some bank stuff and pick up Lee's computer from the post office, but tomorrow afternoon the vet will make another stop at our apartment and drop off some anti-inflammatory drops to give to Emmie for a week or so, just to give her shoulder a chance to heal. Total cost of today's housecall: $51. Cost of the meds tomorrow: about $35. And folks that beats the charge at your average veterinary clinic by SO much, it's not even funny.

Poor Emmie... she emitted SUCH a meow when the vet palpated the sore muscle!
