Helluva day, helluva day...

The alarm went off at 9:30 am. I rolled over, hit it a good one, and rolled back... when I opened my eyes again, it was 11:55, and I was scheduled to meet [livejournal.com profile] eastpath at Starbucks at 12:15. GAAAAHHHHH! *frantically shower, get dressed, dash out of the house, after cramming my DBT binder and "What Witches Do" by Stewart Farrar into my purse*

I made Starbucks at about 12:20, where eastpath presented me with an absolutely lovely group of presents: two boxes of Tazo Chai Tea, a metallic lime green thermal coffee mug (which gets me 10 cents off any Starbucks drink I put into it), and cutest of all, a special Starbucks "M.U.G. Award" pin -- as well as a heartwarming letter about friendship and how much she's going to miss me when she and her fiance leave for the west coast at the end of the month. (I'll miss you too, EP -- and we simply MUST get together and perform a going-away/good fortune ritual for you! Northlight, would you be interested in participating?)

From there I went down to Ipsos-Reid to drop off my latest doctor's note, which excuses me from work until September 15th. :-(

A quick stop at the Dollar Store on the way to the bus stop netted me a lovely little basket of seashells which I plan to consecrate and give away as ritual salt holders during the August Full Moon Ritual; then off to the Health Sciences Centre for a meeting with the psychiatric nurse in charge of my chart for the DBT program. Such sessions are always a bit of a gauntlet for me, since we discuss how life's been for me over the previous three weeks, and I came out of it drained, just in time to go into the actual DBT class itself. *sigh* This is SUCH hard work, especially on days like today when I'm feeling generally chewed up by depression, but I got through the hour-and-a-half session and made it back home in one piece.

Picked up [livejournal.com profile] nightdog_barks's postcard from the post office -- thank you SO much! *loves getting postcards* It made my day. There'll be one from Winnipeg on its way to you in the next day or so. :-)

And special thanks to the person who PMed me on GAFF and offered me their home phone number to call if I needed to talk to someone when I'm feeling low. You know who you are -- and you are a wonderful, special person for being so kind and caring to someone you barely know.

Now, off to put on a beef roast, which, around 10 pm, should make a lovely dinner with some creamy mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. In spite of everything else, I'm managing to keep on top of my health; I even resisted the temptation this afternoon to indulge in a hot fudge sundae on my way out of the hospital. Funny... I had a sundae a few days ago, and discovered that I'm losing my taste for sugar. This is not a bad thing.

And now, a quiz!

I love sending postcards! It's so ... old-fashioned ... these days. Makes me think of quills, fountain pens, and cream-colored notepaper.

Glad you're feeling better.

Feeling better is good, and I am pleased to hear it. May this be the start of a long upward trend for you.
