We just got home from Easter dinner in Selkirk. As usual the food was excellent, and I enjoyed the company of George's family... although after three hours there I was ready for some peace and quiet amid the earnestly talking adults and energetic children (about fifteen people in all). There was also a toddler in the mix, and I have to admit that Mother Nature wired me incorrectly, because I have a real aversion to very small children. Even the thought of touching them, or being touched by them, makes me shiver with a feeling that borders on revulsion. I've always been this way, and although the years have mellowed me somewhat the underlying response has remained constant.
George's family doesn't know this. Fortunately I was able to avoid kissing the small children or being asked to hold them, although I must admit that I smiled at their little antics. Another holiday with danger barely averted!
I filmed a video on my digital camera of one of the older children playing with my sister-in-law's dog Keisha. So very, very cute. Watch her play happily with her toy bone as the child teases her with it, then stealthily steal it when the child's attention is diverted. (NOTE: The child playing with Keisha has a speech impediment, so that blurring of words that you hear is normal.)
On the way home I cracked open a drink that I'd bought at the 7-Eleven in Selkirk: Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper. While many people seem to like it, I almost spat it out on the first taste. It was a little bit like drinking battery acid in which a whole box of Cherry Blossoms had been dissolved. Blech! Easily one of the worst drinks I've ever put in my mouth.
Tomorrow is an at-home day, plugging away at MM. We brought home what was left of the coleslaw from the family dinner, and there was a LOT of it, so I expect I'll be snacking on it at intervals while I work.
Here's hoping everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend.
