According to a couple of people on my Friends list (who shall be nameless unless they choose to name themselves), Interest searches aren't turning up well-known slash communities, or individual journals that have this listed as an interest.

Is LJ up to its old tricks again?

You can weigh in here if you like.

(I have to wonder if LJ thinks its users are really THAT oblivious.)

It's not direct censorship. I tried with a community without any adult content whatever ([livejournal.com profile] dogsintraining) and it didn't turn up for "dog training" even though it's going to be listed in livejournal spotlight. Their search engine really is broken if you can't find a community they're going to be actively promoting!

Yeah, it's not any kind of censorship that I can see, it's just a case of the search engine being cruddy. I went searching for "valentine's day", since I'm looking for a Valentine's Day fic challenge comm of some kind, and all I got was a handful of communities related to the movie "Valentine's Day" and people who listed Anne Hathaway in their interests, since she's in the movie.
