Someone on the WiccanTogether.com site just attempted to bitchslap me via a comment on my profile page, apparently because I dared to disagree with her recommendation that a 12-year-old use Silver Ravenwolf as a primary resource for learning Wicca. OH NOEZ, I IS A FASCIST MEANIE POO-POO HEAD!!1!11!

(And yes, I've responded to a couple of other posts of hers in much the same vein. I have never, however, insulted her or talked down to her, at least as far as I can recall.)

I'm really tempted to respond with something along the lines of: "Bitch, please... disagreeing with you is NOT "badgering" you. You REALLY want to see me get medieval on your ass? Okey-dokey, here we go..."

But I know that responding out of anger and anxiety that has nothing to do with her isn't fair, so I'm going to hold my peace. For now.

This is the post that set her off. Scroll down to "prairiecrow" for the straw that broke her camel's back.

EDITED TO ADD: And now one of her (presumably) friends is getting in on the action (see link above), accusing me of all sorts of things that are quite untrue. I don't know whether to be amused or profoundly depressed by this.

*huggles* Don't let the morons get to you. It seems that one of the first things that newly-fledged pagans need to get past is the "One True Way" mentality.

I don't think these are new Pagans -- or at least, rightwitch isn't. She's definitely in the "old enough to know better" catagory.

But thank you for the huggles. :-) Mmmm, feeling better already!

I have to laugh at Blackcrow's comment on how you have 'anger issues'. XD OMG. Sooo tempting to say something, but I don't want to fan the fire **bites her tongue**

Actually, it's normal for people to have "anger issues" when morons say stupid things to p!ss them off. ...duh...

Yes! Morons do tend to cause a bunch oh of health issues, up to and including sudden death XD

*giggle* That sounds about right.

Sigh..what has happened to basic human decency nowadays?? ((hugs)). The lack of manners in general society really astounds me. I think that it seems to be an art few and far between of people that can state their opinion and agree to disagree, perhaps, and be polite and cordial about it. To me, you were perfectly eloquent in your explanation and not insulting at all. This lady sounds like she has issues.

Don't let the turkeys get you down. :: hugs::

I know, I know, it's just... *sigh*

*prepares some cranberry sauce and sage dressing*

Heh-heh, that's the spirit: roast the turkeys when they try to get you down. :: Winks::

The comment to which you refer, is that the... unsavoury one at the top? The one that tells you about your anger issues in tones of honeyed concern? *sharpens spork*

Sheesh.

Actually, it's the one below it, from "rightwitch". The follow-up I referred to is the one from "blackcrow".

*sigh* Neither of them have experienced the full force of my displeasure. Believe me, if I were angry at them, they'd know it in no uncertain terms. ;-)

Aha *squints* it all makes sense now *nods sagely*

But it's still kind of fucked up. They're weird.

*hugs you*

Awww, thank you. *hugs back* I'll take all the hugs I can get right now. :-)

Wow. I am completely with you on the Silver Ravenwolf thing. And I commend you for pointing that out to a novice like that. But it souls like SOMEONE (her) has a major stick up her ass. I hate Ravenwolf fangirls. . . They give the rest of us pagans a bad name.

But be amused. Stupid people are great for the LULZ!

The sad thing is, "rightwitch" claims to have been a Pagan for many years. Mind you, IIRC the first posts I saw from her kept wibbling about whether she is Wiccan or not, and for how long.

Ah, well. If I wasn't a member of the Fascist Meanie Poo-Poo Head club on WT before, I am now! Getting nibbled by fluff bunnies has to count for something. ;-)

EDITED TO ADD: Mind if I Friend you back?

My personal nickname for SR is "Silver Ravenchow". For the simple reason if said author were to meet with a certain Celtic goddess, she'd be food for said goddess's ravens...

I'm very sorry to hear the news about your health -- but the good news is that you *know*, now, yes? Hopefully it responds to treatment and you'll feel better soon.

In regards to the girl(*), I wouldn't worry about the opinions of anyone thoughtless enough to 1/ recommend $RW and 2/ justify it as "because it's likely a throw away, anyway" since giving people poor information really is the way to make certain they decide the whole thing is silly.

*I hope she's young, because if she's that insecure and thin skinned as an adult she really does have problems because the world -- by virtue of being the world -- really *is* out to get her since she can't take even the tiniest bit of disagreement with her worldview. The other one needs to check her own stupidity issues before counseling others on their supposed anger issues.

Knowing is indeed good. Apparently coronary disease often responds very well to treatment, so once they get the exact nature of it locked down, there might be quite a bit they can do for me.

As for the girl, she's apparently more than old enough to know better. And blackcrow... well, he deleted a very reasonable comment I left on his profile in response, stating that I had merely disagreed with rightwitch and that he might want to get to know somebody before telling them that they have to quit drinking/smoking/other things that don't apply to me at all. So that tells you what calibre of person HE is: Somebody Not Worth Concerning Myself With Any Further.
Date/Time: 2008-11-29 04:23 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] cockatiel-art.livejournal.com
Yeah - I laughed pretty hard when I saw he called you an angry person who needed to quit smoking and chit. Heehee.

Be amused... cuz if they knew you, or even bothered to get to know you they wouldn't be saying that shit.

Don't let it depress you because that would be energy better off used elsewhere :)

*HUGS*

At this point, being amused is probably healthier than being depressed. Unfortunately, a person's age doesn't always correlate with their level of maturity. A person can be in their fifties and still act and think like a spoiled teenager if nothing and no one in their life so far has taught them any better. It might be tempting to put yourself in the position of being a teacher for these people, but I think it would be a wasted effort. These people don't know you, and have no reason to care about you, therefore nothing you say to them will be taken to heart. The only thing that will teach them is their own life experiences.

Why am I thinking of middle-aged Twatlight fangirls?

therefore nothing you say to them will be taken to heart. The only thing that will teach them is their own life experiences.

This is so true.

Ah, fluffybunnies. They suck in politics, they suck in the arts, and they obviously suck in paganism.

I just clicked through to [livejournal.com profile] dot_pagan_snark. The latest post is just perfectly timed with this nonsense you're dealing with.
