Friend of the accused, who has a background in the mental health field states that he was probably paranoid schizophrenic and that he refused to get help for cultural reasons.
I have no words. This is just what people with schizophrenia need: more stigma. The vast majority of them are NOT dangerous in any way, but this incident is going to set back their fight for acceptance tremendously.

Most schizophrenics who are 'dangerous' hurt themselves, like in my case. If Li had been on medications despite cultural BS, this whole affair probably would have never happened.
Joy for Mental Illness Stigma :-|

As I pointed out, mental illness is still a stigma in any culture. Which is part of the reason so many people do not seek treatment. Maybe if there was more acceptance incidences like this would not be happening.
Bah, it pissed me off.
