Pictures and commentary on Winnipeg's International Women's Day march, behind the cut.

Before the march, a nice hot latte with sugar-free vanilla and hazelnut flavor:

A portrait of my friend Amanda, shot in the coffee shop:

People gathering in Old Market Square before the march:

Amanda and Andrea with their pirate scarves (handed out to the crowd by the march organizers):

And me in mine:

The theme of the march was "a ship being threatened by an iceberg", with the people leading the parade dressed up as a ship and a few other people under a white translucent tarp appearing about a third of the way down the parade route and leaping into the path of the march, only to be successfully circumnavigated. Andrea, Amanda and I volunteered to be waves:

Here is the back of the "MS Citizenship", with sail, as we got organized to start the parade:

And here is a shot back along the body of the parade, through Winnipeg's scenic Exchange District:

Look out! It's an iceberg! (They lurked on the concrete embankment you can see behind them before leaping down from above, all very dramatic...):

The ship led the crowd into a building on the University of Winnipeg grounds, where we listened to a couple of speakers:

A shot of the complete length of the MS Citizenship, now in dry dock:

And finally, a glimpse of University architecture. The U of W is my alma mater, and it was interesting to be back on her grounds again:

I am now pleasantly tired. I think I'll have a hot bath before getting back to work again.
