I just went downstairs to deliver the gift basket (full of cookies, candies, and peanut brittle) to our caretaker. She invited me in, and while I was standing in her living room chatting I found out that she, her husband, and her young son have what is probably the flu. Stuffed-up sinuses, sore throats, bodily aches and pains.

As soon as I got home I cleaned my hands with hand sanitizer. Please, dearest Gods, do not let me catch the flu. I can't afford a physical crash-and-burn with so many deadlines breathing down my neck. Not to mention the fact that in diabetics, the flu can rapidly turn fatal.
On the plus side, she and her husband REALLY liked the gift basket, and hinted that we might be getting Christmas cookies as soon as she has a couple of hours free to do some baking.
They're really quite nice people. I just hope they're not infectious.

Sorry, perhaps I'm a bit punch-drunk from too much work and lack of sleep, but I'm not quite getting what you're saying. :-)

Oh yea, and in a pinch hand sanitizer is okay (like if you don't have adequate or proper hand washing facilities) but it does not replace and is not better than good old fashioned soap and water and a good 30 second scrub. [Learned this from food safe class] :) Hand sanitizer is full of alcohol which just dries out your skin, bleh.
Positive thoughts!! :)
