NaNoWriMo and Samhain

My word count is at 6085. That's about 2000 words a day when the minimum to meet the deadline is 1667. I'll put up a couple of excerpts once I've transferred the file from our ancient laptop onto the 8600, and from there to the iMac. I also have a fairly detailed plot for the novel (including some character background) up to about the one-third mark.

Tonight is our group's Samhain ritual, three days after October 31st and three days before the actual cross-quarter date on November 6th. I'm all packed to go (since I'm bringing all the ritual equipment to diamond_lies' house, including my mother's ashes). The rice dish I'll be bringing for the feast is cooking away -- nothing fancy, just rice and mixed vegetables. I'll have to stop and pick up some soy sauce on the way; fortunately there's a Safeway right at the head of diamond_lies' street.

Hee, sounds like you're off to a good running start! I tried doing NaNo years ago, but I had to set it aside because I was working too many hours and my mother got sick so I had to take care of her... then Thanksgiving came along --aaahhh!
