Whew... the first 10 pages of Girl Genius are out the door (looking wonderful), and I'm starting to come out of the shock after Micawber's unexpected demise. (The more I consider it, the more strongly I suspect he had feline pancreatitis, a chronic condition which can lie hidden for months before becoming acute; in most cases, the root cause is never found. You can find more info on it at http://www.marvistavet.com/html/pancreatitis__feline_.html ).

Now, we pack!

We have until Wednesday evening to get this place boxed up -- the movers will arrive Thursday at noon (I'm assuming, perhaps wishfully, that we will find time to sleep that night).

AHHHHHHHH!!!

We're doing the bedroom first -- sorting clothes, picking what to keep and what to give/throw away (I, in particular, have lots of extra clothes I rarely wear). That should keep us going for a couple of hours at least. Then, the studio. Then the living room, probably -- there are reams of magazines/books/paper in there that I have to go through myself and decide what stays and what goes.

I have to bite the bullet and admit that there's a lot of stuff in this apartment that just won't make it. If I'd started sorting 2 or 3 weeks ago, I might have been able to reroute some of it to various friends; as it is, either Goodwill or the trash will end up with most of it. My friend R. has expressed an interest in the stacks of comics, so hopefully they will find a good home with him, T., and their two kids.

In about 10 minutes, the antihistamine pill I swallowed will take full effect, then it's time to don my mouth/nose mask (the same kind people were wearing during the SARS scare) and dive into the bedroom. Later tonight, possibly dinner with T. and R. and a short roleplaying game session.

*singing* Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go...

Aaah, yes, the joys of packing boxes... Like I've said: I helped my ex-fiance move twice (once into an apartment, and once into a house), so I know how much fun that can be! Wish I lived closer, so I could help you out.... yours truly being something of an expert in the field! ;8^) Furniture may be unwieldy to move, but dealing with the kipple (to use Philip K. Dick's clever term for accumulated magazines) can be MURDER!!!!

You should have a pack/move help day where you can have a few people over to help out and offer stuff to so it has a home.
