Last night was the worst night's sleep I've had in many many years: I had a hard time actually getting to sleep, and once I did I kept waking up every couple of hours, tossing and turning in an effort to find a position that would ease my aching head/throat/sinuses/muscles. And this AFTER I'd taken two cold medication tablets. Thank goodness George was working all night, otherwise I'm sure his sleep would have been as broken up as mine.

In consequence, today I am exceptionally thick-headed and grumpy. Not to mention very tired. I think this little infection has just been officially upgraded from "cold" to "flu".

Which will probably bugger up my Ipsos shifts for the next couple of days at least. *beats head against keyboard* I've already bowed out of today's DBT session because I just can't imagine spending three whole hours more than twenty feet from a soft horizontal surface.

Gotta go get coffee. Then I'll sit on the couch for an hour or so, drinking it while I watch Richard Simmons' Disco Blast-Off tape, the one I haven't seen all the way through yet. And then... drumroll please!... The Eternals.

Side note: The Winnipeg Public Library allows you to renew items online when you provide the number on your library card plus the last four digits of your home phone number. This was a real lifesaver in this case, since the video tapes I'd rented cost $2/day when they're late, and they were due in today. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] chimera452 for pointing out this service.

Have you ever gotten a flu-shot? As a diabetic I believe medicare covers the cost. I haven't had the flu since I started getting the shot, knock on wood. (On the other hand, my grandmother swears she was never so sick as the year she actually got the flu shot. Who's to say, really?)

Wishing you many soft horizontal surfaces.

Yep, I've received the flu shot the last two years in a row. The cost is covered. This, however, might be a strain of flu that wasn't included in the mix. ;-)

Well that's just adding insult to injury. It's getting late in the flu season, too. Don't know how long the shots are good for.

Take it easy and be good to yourself. It's the only way to get better.

Sending hugs and a warm blankie!

Or it could just seem as bad as the flu and really just is a cold... ya never know :)

*hugs*

hey Laurie
Hope you feel better soon! That cold sounds nasty ((sends virtual chicken soup)).
I empathize with the sleep. Not to sound whiny but that's almost every night for me, being a chronic insomniac.
Try some lavender and chammomile under your pillow.
Blessings
J.
