Nothing says "It's Spring!" like two sparrows going at it on a telephone wire -- which is precisely what I saw on my way back from the drugstore this afternoon. Cute little buggers, and energetic to boot!

Birds are singing everywhere these last couple of days. Spring has indeed come to Manitoba, with unseasonably high temperatures and bright, sunny days.

More later. Must exercise.

Ha. Love the accompanying icon. You know, it's just occurred to me that I have never seen birds having sex, and have no idea what it looks like. I mean, I've never seen a bird with a wang before, you know?

That's because birds don't have wangs. ;-) Both male and female birds have an opening called a cloaca (I think), and in mating they press them together and flutter their wings like crazy. The sperm exits from the male's cloaca into the female's cloaca, and bing-bang-boom, there you go.

Heh. A little bit of science in every post, eh?

Heehee.. I was the same way before I started owning cockatiels. Most ground birds have rudimentry penises - ostriches, reas and even ducks.

Regarding the spring thing... you know when spring's here at Blake Gardens when all the kids show up on my doorstep wanting to play with the critters **rolls eyes**

Really? Rudimentary penises (penii)? I thought all birds had the cloaca thing going on.

I learn something new every day. *laughs* And don't let the kids drive you TOO crazy.

Heehee.. I spray 'Kid Away' on my front door when the kids get too feisty :-D . They leave me alone in droves. I should tell them i have a man eating lobster. it'd be cheaper ^.^ .

The things I learn when breeding birds, LOL! Yeah, the majority of Land birds have penii. For shits and giggles, I'll post the link to the largest bird dick found. I stumbled across it and HAD to Book mark it just for the WTF???!!! factor. It makes sexing some of these birds a lot easier -especially when they're chicks. It's easy to sex ducks. Drakes have corkscrew shaped oragans. They actually think the larger dinosaurs had a cloacal extention like that.

I'm a twisted little girl :-D .
