For some reason, Mac OS X has gone mildly apeshit on me. Can you say kernel panic? After trying several times to open the same pages in Photoshop CS (including my master color file for the Hardy Boys characters, which kept crashing the system), I rebooted in Mac OS 9.2, opened Photoshop 5.5., and managed to open up the master file long enough to cut-and-paste essential information into a smaller file. Unfortunately that didn't seem to calm Mac OS X down any, despite running various disk utilities, moving files to different drives, and praying. I did everything short of sacrificing a chicken. *crosses heart*
So two and a half hours later I end up working in OS 9.2, in Photoshop 5.5, after I'd just gotten used to -- and really started to appreciate -- Photoshop CS. *sigh* George will take a look at things after I go to bed tonight; he's far more up on such things than I am.
On the upside, I finished ALL the true colors today and did 14 pages of totally finished art in only 6 hours. That leaves 34 pages of just figures, and three days to do them, but if I push myself tomorrow and Tuesday I might actually pull the book in one day ahead of schedule. The editor would be immensely thrilled if that were the case, and my aura would shine all the more golden in his eyes.
Bah. Off to bed.
