Well, the Ritalin might actually be having an effect. *golf clap... yay!* Yesterday George suggested we go out for a walk and dinner in the early evening, and we ended up going to a local restaurant we'd never been to, a place called Civita. It specializes in wood-fired pizzas cooked in a clay oven, and features a lovely little hidden back patio overarched by lush trees; the food was amazing, including a Caesar salad uniquely presented (a grilled wedge of Romaine lettuce, yummm!) and a whole-wheat thin crust delicately flavored and topped with chicken, yellow peppers, onions, two kinds of cheese, and chunky tomato sauce. Highly recommended! We'll definitely be going back.

Afterwards we walked up Corydon to a mom-and-pop grocery store we'd also never been to, and were pleasantly surprised by both their wide selection and their prices. And all this, I had energy for. I actually enjoyed myself... and if you've been reading this journal for any length of time, you'll understand what a rare pleasure that is.

Breaking news from Kaja: I've lost Girl Genius.

This actually comes as something of a relief, and not a great surprise.

They're taking the color in-house to save money, which, given that they've switched to a web comic format and no longer have income from the comic book pamphlets, was pretty much written on the wall; it was just a matter of when it came to pass. What they are doing is giving me the coloring contract on the first three issues of the book, which were originally printed in black and white. The deadline on this is considerably less nerve-wracking than on a 3-page-a-week web comic.

I feel I did some of my best work on Phil Foglio's pencils, and my 6-issue stretch on GG has been a high point of my career. I hope that Kaja and Phil have enjoyed working with me as much as I've enjoyed working with them, and that perhaps we can work on another project in the future.
