Today after my appointment at the hospital (more about that in another post, can you feel the suspense? :-P), I got off my ass and set out to contact Second Chance CDs. Fortunately they offer customer support via AIM, and I was able to get hold of someone that way. The following conversation ensued...

crowdog66: hello -- I have a question re: Second Chance CDs...

crowdog66: a couple of months ago, I won a statue from you folks on eBay
crowdog66: the order got lost in the shipping department
crowdog66: I ended up having to call in, at which point they found the order and sent it out to me ASAP
crowdog66: well, I just received ANOTHER copy of the same statue, which I did not order, lol
crowdog66: I've found a potential local buyer for it...
crowdog66: but I wanted to check with you guys to see how you wanted me to handle this
IndyMale33: hmmm
crowdog66: my idea was to send you the value stated for customs purposes plus your shipping expenses
crowdog66: though in all honesty, since I never asked for it, I'm not sure shipping charges SHOULD apply
IndyMale33: no, they shouldnt
IndyMale33: which statue was it?
crowdog66: one of your Diana statues -- the one of Diana and the stag, where Diana is holding a long spear
crowdog66: (which probably doesn't help much...)

crowdog66: yep
crowdog66: ...is this the fellow I was speaking to on the phone when I called last time?
IndyMale33: yes
crowdog66: lol... hello again
IndyMale33: I sent you 2?
crowdog66: I was VERY surprised when the second statue showed up...

crowdog66: yep
IndyMale33: have to check my customs forms
crowdog66: but as I said, I've found a local buyer who's interested in paying the value-for-duty cost
IndyMale33: to see why I did that
IndyMale33: that would be fine
crowdog66: which would spare the shipping-it-back expenses all around
crowdog66: *nods*
IndyMale33: very true
crowdog66: I'll do that then, and send out a money order... now, if it turns out they don't want it, what's Plan B?
crowdog66: (though I'm 99% sure they'll take it)
IndyMale33: hmmmm...never had this happen before

crowdog66: did you want to consider it and email me later?
crowdog66: (and BTW, your 1-877 number doesn't seem to be letting calls through)
IndyMale33: well, the only potential problem would be if they didnt want it
crowdog66: they're supposed to get back to me later this evening
IndyMale33: not usually from out of the country
crowdog66: ahhh... it worked last time (the 1-877 number, that is)
IndyMale33: unless both lines are going
IndyMale33: do you just get a busy tone?
crowdog66: nope, I got an "I'm sorry, your call could not go through" message
IndyMale33: hmmm...has to be with the phone company then
IndyMale33: let me know the outcome if they purchase it, and most certainly deduct your expenses
IndyMale33: I really appreciate your honesty
IndyMale33: rare these days
crowdog66: the only expenses incurred at my end would be the taxes and handling fee to get it out of hock at the post office in the first place, and the cost of the money order (which is small)
crowdog66: *bows* no problem... I know how in a business, every piece of product impacts the bottom line
IndyMale33: especially on Ebay
crowdog66: I'll do what I can to secure a sale on this end
crowdog66: and get back in touch with you if it falls through.
IndyMale33: they are expensive, withb makes the bottom line very thin
crowdog66: gorgeous statues, though :-)

So, Jill, if you want that statue, I can let it go for the stated value for customs of $47, plus the $12 GST/PST/handling that I paid to Canada Post, for a total of $59 Canadian. (I don't feel right in making the company eat the $12, since it WAS my decision to pay it... if that makes any sense.)
