Yesterday, right after I made my post, I went back to bed. Total time under the covers, except for a couple of hours I was up and struggling to get work done: 36 hours. Grinding, irrational, self-harming depression, every minute of it.
Then, a phone call from my mother this morning -- minor medical emergency! Drag myself into the shower, take a cab out to her place, then another cab to the walk-in clinic... followed by a diagnosis, lunch, and a quest for antibiotics that took us all over a mega-mall. Total time: 4 or 5 hours. End result: crying when I got home, as I contemplate finding the energy to do Girl Genius after I get back from a meeting I have to attend tonight.
Eternal gratitude to George for laying some textures for me while I was gone. With luck, hard work, and true grit, I might actually meet my page deadline this week.
