Ritual equipment and candleholders cleaned? Check.

Altar components assembled? Check. I'll start putting the altar layout together after people arrive, since some of them expressed curiousity about how the various tools are placed and why.

Dishes washed and kitchen counters and appliances wiped down? Check.

Shopping list bought, including whole wheat buns for the Simple Feast during the rite? Check.

Clean towels up in the bathroom? Check. (Hey, it's the little things, right?)

We just have to wash the floors and replace a few burned-out lightbulbs, and the place is ready to go.

The two soft blankets I picked up last night to go on the couch and over the coffee table/bench are proving to be a hit with Emmie. She spent a good 20 minutes this afternoon sacked out on my belly as I lay on the couch with one of the blankets on my stomach, with her head down and her purr-box going full bore. Happy cat? Check.

Tip: The Galaxy stations on MTS TV rock. They have "Nature" and "Celtic" stations that will provide background music this evening while we eat and converse. Music? Check.

The last-minute dusting today gave me an opportunity to handle Micawber's picture and ashes, as well as a little glass bottle containing some of his brushed fur, some whiskers, and some shed claws. What a good old cat he was... he'd have enjoyed the company tonight, as well as any tidbits of meat and other goodies he could connive from my guests. And the blankets, of course.
