Ah, what a busy day... went downtown to the walk-in clinic and ended up doing some shopping. Quite a bit of shopping, actually.

First, the clinic, regarding a tingling/pressure/wriggling sensation in the vein that runs across the top of my right foot, a condition that's persisted on and of for most of the last six weeks. I thought perhaps it was a blood clot (since I buggered up my right shin rather badly in an accident back in January). The doctor assured me that it's just the damaged nerve re-establishing connection with the foot. *sigh of relief* It's annoying, and might persist for a few months, but at least it's not potentially serious.

Then the Dollar Store in Portage Place, where I found something that I'd never hoped to run across -- little electric lanterns, quite bright ones too, that run on 4 AA batteries. Can you say "quarter markers for when we're out at the park on Saturday"? *grabs four lanterns and a huge pack of cheap batteries* I'm test-running one now: I turned it on at 4:15 pm, and 30 minutes later it's still burning brightly. We'll see how long that state of affairs continues...

Onward to McNally Robinson to pick up some textbooks for George, who is running a two-week course in comic art at a local college starting next week. $114 netted me three books: Comics and Sequential Art and Graphic Storytelling & Visual Narrative by Will Eisner, and Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud, excellent volumes all and ones I'd heartily recommend to anyone with a serious interest in the medium. I can't wait to see what George comes up with as far as course materials!

Finally, a stop at a fabric store to pick up two meters of medium-thickness drapery cord in an antique gold color. I'll be wearing the robe of my old teacher, Ruby, who died several years ago (members of her coven passed the robe on to me for reasons that still leave me scratching my head, but it's an honor I certainly wasn't about to turn down), but I needed a waist sash to hold the scabbards of my athame and my bolline, and silken drapery cord does the trick quite nicely.

And now -- I clean! Eastpath and Northlight are coming over tomorrow night to consecrate some tools for the Saturday ritual, and the place is a high (un)holy mess. I've been depressed on and off all day, but my energy level at the moment is fairly good.

D'oh! How could I forget that I went to Starbucks before I even went downtown? >.<

It was nice to see you today too. :-D As usual, the vanilla latte was excellent.
