I've been wanting a good altar platen for quite some time, and came across this beauty on eBay one hour before the auction ending:

It's approximately 13 inches wide, inscribed with Goddess/God and elemental symbols (clockwise from the right: air, fire, water, earth, and spirit), and will serve as a tray for cakes and ale, a charging surface for tools and jewelry, and a simple portable altar requiring no other equipment or set-up.

*sigh* A busy day today in general. I worked my way through the Mountain of Boxes in the bedroom, discovering books and equipment I haven't seen in almost a year -- including my Wiccan Reference Folder -- but still no sign of my working Book of Shadows or my little chapbook full of hymns, chants, and invokations. There are some boxes in the living room that might hold them; I certainly hope so, because if they don't, I'm officially stumped.

News from kbob about Carter the Found Cat: repeated messages left since Monday on the answering machine of the registered owners have produced no return phone call. Carter and Thunder (kbob's current cat) have progressed from hissing at each other to chirruping and rudimentary play behavior. At this point kbob is starting to think he might have a new cat! If so, she couldn't find a better home: kbob's a LaVeyan Satanist, but he has a deep and abiding love for all animals and has volunteered many hours for local animal charities and shelters. Assuming the owners aren't just on vacation and not checking their messages... well, we'll just have to see.
