Welcome to Winnipeg in December!

Environment Canada has continued an extreme wind chill warning for southern Manitoba as bitter weather moves in today.

Temperatures in Winnipeg are expected to dip as low as -26 C, which feels like - 43 C with the wind chill.

Environment Canada said northerly winds will strengthen later today across southern Manitoba, with winds gusting between 40 and 60 kilometres.

For my friends in America, that's a base temperature of -17 F, which feels like -45.4 F.

I was considering leaving the apartment this afternoon and walking up the street to Starbucks for a latte.

Not today.

So it seems the weather front that tracked through here yesterday and the day before is moving east. It's -27 C here at the moment, but sunny and with no wind, so it's actually pleasant outside.

After reading that, I feel quite content with our -3 (-12 with the wind chill). Still, it's cold for Victoria in December.

Well, living in the UK we use Celcius, so I feel qualified to say SWEET SUFFERING FUCK, THAT'S COLD! Definitely not time to nip out for a latte. Speaking of which, do they still do those eggnog-flavoured ones at this time of year? [/not-helping]

I remember windchills like that from Saskatchewan. Makes our windchill of -4C in Toronto seem insignificant.
