Or rather, I would if I could get to Ontario.

The bastard just stiffed us out of $1500 which he said he would pay promptly upon delivery of the first 10 pencilled pages of "Captain Canuck". George delivered the files on Tuesday, which meant we should have had a cheque Wednesday, and had issued cheques of our own to the phone company and our rental agency based on that assumption (which we had gone over with Gagnon many, many times in negotiations).

Well, Gagnon has some "legal trouble" and has been meeting with lawyers all week. He says he can pay us, but has yet to say when.

So. The phone check bounced today. The rent cheque will probably bounce tomorrow, if it hasn't already. If the asshole had just TOLD us that he was going to have trouble paying -- because he knew this would be an issue last week, apparently -- we could have made other arrangements.

I am NOT happy.

*storms off to find something inanimate to kick*

NOTE: If I suddenly disappear from the internet, it's because the phone company has yanked our internet service. Have I mentioned how much I'd like to strangle our publisher?

Damn, don't yah hate it when they do that to you? I've had editors stiff me out of fees for pictures... Give me five minutes and your publisher will have a hell of a time using his credit card ever again!

oh man..that is stinky. ((hugs)). I love how some employers think we're just resting on the laurels waiting for money to add to our already well padded bank accounts and that we aren't counting on the money..grrrrrrrr.

I would speak to legal aid and see what you can do. If he was contracted to pay you, he has to, no ifs ands or buts.
