Sweet jumping Jesus!

The short version: Three Christian colleges in the States are turning out pharmacists who are going to refuse women things like birth control and the morning after pill because it's, well, JUST PLAIN WRONG. And the government is actually going to let them.

*ponders*

You know, I'm aware that my hackles are still up over the Westboro Baptist Church's attempt to invade Canada and spew filth on our soil. Therefore I'm also aware that this news of the latest success of Christian fundamentalists in hijacking the system of my friends down south is making me MUCH more angry than it should.

But someone has to take a stand and do something -- anything -- to stop these... no. I have no words. Just rage.

As a Christian I can understand why they are trying to do this. But in my readings and my own opinion from the readings, professions in the world are not going to line up with the Christian belief so the best thing in my opinion is that the Christian person is to cease from doing them.

If the morning after pill is against Christian beliefs then the Christian should not be a pharmacist in a society that has this medication legal.

That should be a sacrifice a Christian should be happy to make in the name of their belief.

To force one's belief on the rest of society only brings negativity toward the ones doing the forcing.

I know..it's frightening. Right now, pharmacists have the right in BC and MB to refuse prescriptions to patients that they "morally object" to, which includes the Morning After Pill and Birth Control Pills.
It really scares me as to what this could mean for women.

Do pharmacists have to take the hipocratic oath, does anyone know? (I'm guessing not).

Even if mornign after pills (which no matter how I look at it is NOT the same as abortion) really go against christian beliefs, thats all well and good..... but who is to say every customer is Christian? >:P

No, Christianity doesn't need external enemies. We keep having to apologize for our own morons as it is.

I can't actually see a single way in which this is at all justifiable. The US of A is not a Christian state, freedom of religion is right there in the constitution. This sort of thing is terrifying.
