Some wonderful stats from the "Feed an Animal In Need" site...
"On May.18, you and others who clicked on the "Feed an Animal in Need" button helped provide 105,635 bowls of food to animals in shelters and sanctuaries. Last year, visitors' clicks at The Animal Rescue Site funded 23,968,850 bowls of food! Together we can do even more in 2004!"
A breakdown by date, month, and year can be found at the"Feed an Animal In Need" Click Results page. Making a difference feels great... :-)
And now, as promised -- cat juggling! According to a Cannes Film Festival report in the Winnipeg Free Press, there's a street juggler in Cannes who performs on the Croisette.
His medium? His cats!
The Free Press reporter, Daria Salamon, rated him the "Most Interesting Person" in Cannes and was quick to assure readers that no harm was being done: "Don't worry, animal lovers, the cats seem to love it!" I have to wonder... are the cats floppy and relaxed as he juggles them (no doubt accustomed from kittenhood to flying safely from hand to hand) or are they alert and active? Does he occasionally drop one deliberately, to land on its feet and come running back to be scooped up and sent soaring into mid-air once more? Or do they roll over and lie prone, paws in the air, until called by their owner to come get treats when the act is over? And does he accept cat kibble in lieu of change as a donation from appreciative onlookers?
My Google search turned up only two photos of this interesting character, in the Travel section of http://www.ozymandias.com/ -- the website of Andre Vrignaud. Since websites can evaporate at the drop of a hat (and so I don't eat up his bandwidth), I've copied the photos to my Photobucket account to link them to this entry...

If any of you can track down more info -- or better yet, pictures -- of the Cat Juggler of Cannes, please let me know...
