I got to bed at 2 am this morning and was up at 7:30 am. Have to help George get those two covers out the door for the local TV production. I'll need to erase, scan, and clean up the first one while George finishes inking the second, and then I'll have to color them both.

Coffee and Ritalin are starting to kick in. I still feel like something scraped off of the sole of Death's boot, though.

The covers are turning out quite nicely. If George gives me permission, I'll post some jpegs of the color sketches later.

To give this post extra volume and value, here are four cleansing rituals that I just posted in response to a question on AllExperts.

Magickal Tool Consecration Ritual
By Sorita & David Rankine

Once you have purchased a magickal tool, you will need to consecrate it, ready for use in ritual. A simple consecration ritual is given below as a guide, but do feel free to modify and adapt this to your own preferences.

Have salt (or a crystal) and water (not tap) ready in small bowls, candle, incense and censer, and a suitable oil (depicting spirit) on the altar ready.(for more information on the use of Ritual Tools click here)

1. Prepare yourself by having a Ritual Bath.
2. Ground yourself.
3. Cast circle.
4. Call on elements in turn at the appropriate quarter (starting with Air - East and moving round clockwise (deosil) to Earth - North) and ask for their blessings and energy.
5.Call on the Goddess and God in turn in whichever aspects you know them best (it is preferable if possible to call on aspects which match from the same pantheons, such as Isis and Osiris, Kali and Shiva, etc) and ask for their blessings and energy.
6. Pass the item through the incense smoke (if it is large you may move the censer around it and blow smoke over it as well as you do this), saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Air." As you do this visualize winds blowing over the item, removing any impurities.
7. Pass the item through a candle flame, saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Fire." As you do this visualize fire caressing the item around its edges, burning away any impurities.
8. Sprinkle the item with water, saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Water." As you do this visualize water flowing over and around the item, washing away any impurities.
9. Sprinkle the item with salt, or touch the crystal to it, saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Earth." As you do this visualize the item being surrounded with earth, absorbing any impurities.
10. Anoint the item with oil, saying: "I purify and consecrate you with the power of the element of Spirit." As you do this visualize gold light imbuing itself in the item.
11. Thank and say farewell to the God and Goddess.
12. Thank and say farewell to the elements (in reverse from North anti-clockwise (widdershins) to East).
13. Open circle.

You may wish to wrap items which are not being left on an altar in silk, to preserve the charge on them. Do not allow anyone else to handle your magickal tools.

Cleansing and Consecrating

"This altar is dedicated to the Lord and Lady of Light.
May it serve me well!"

-To end here, thank the God and Goddess, and the elements for their participation. Ground your energy by touching the ground and feeling your excess energy draining out of you and back into the earth.

-Raise your hand over your head in a counter-clockwise motion, circle it around the room, and say:

"The circle is open,
May it never be broken!"

-To use this ritual to consecrate tools or jewlery, continue with the following steps, then finish as above.

-Stand before the altar and pick up the first item to be consecrated. Imagine a glowing gold spotlight shining on it from the heavens. Pass the item over the incense and say:

"I cleanse and consecrate this ______
for positive means. All negativity is removed
from it in any time and any space."

-Repeat this process for the remaining 3 elements.

-Lay the item down on top of your pentacle (if you are consecrating a pentacle, place it in the earth). Place your hands above the item, and form a triangle with your fingers. Imagine a silver orb in the opening of your hands. Let it grow brighter and brighter. Raise the energy from your body adn gently push it out between your hands and into the orb. With your mind, lower the orb onto the item and let it be encompassed. When the energy dissipates, say:

"By the will of the Lord and Lady, I have
empowered this ____. May their blessings
shine upon and through it always.

By the free will of all,
and with harm to none,
As I will,
so shall it be done!"

-Bring the remaining water and earth outside and pour them on the ground and say:

"I thank thee for the use of your power."

Consecration of Ritual Tools
Items Needed:

* Candles
* Sea Salt
* Incense and censer
* Cauldron w/ water
* Pentacle or plate
* Tool to be Consecrated

Light the candles, and the incense. If your path requires it, cast the circle of your choice. Place the tool or object to be consecrated upon a pentacle, or plate of sea salt. Touch the tool with the point of your athame or with your projective hand, and proclaim:

I consecrate you, (name of tool) to purify and cleanse you of all negativity, that you might aid me with my workings. By the powers of the Elements, you are consecrated.

Focus your energy upon the tool, and visualize all negativity and past associations fleeing your ritual tool. I prefer to see this as a black, shadowy mist rising from the tool and ascending into the heavens.

Now, while calling upon the Elements/Old Ones/etc. to consecrate the tool, pick it up with your projective hand and sprinkle with the salt, pass it through the incense smoke, through the candle flame, and then sprinkle with water from the cauldron. Hold the tool up to the sky, and proclaim:

I charge you by the Old Ones; by the Elemental Powers; the powers of the Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, that you shall aid me in all of my workings! Charge this by your power, Old Ones!

To strengthen and bind the consecration, the tool should be put to use immediately.
