Sigmoidoscopy

Tomorrow morning is the sigmoidoscopy. Tonight I have to follow certain dietary restrictions and take some medication that is not going to make my body very happy.

I find myself quite worried. There is apparently an approximately 1 in 2000 chance that the sigmoidoscope will perforate the bowel; if that happens and I start bleeding heavily, they'll have to rush me into surgery to repair the damage. In any case, the nature of the procedure is not one that fills me with anticipation and joy.

So if this turns out to be my last entry, ever, I just wanted to say thanks to everybody who has read and commented over the years. You've been a great source of inspiration and support, and those of you who are on my Friends page, I've always loved having a window into your thoughts.

A colonoscopy goes ALL the way around, instead of halfway.

The Sun reporter got in touch with me via Witchvox; I have an appointment to do a phone interview with her tomorrow morning. If she wants people to do a photo shoot, would you be available to come over to my place? :-)

But you are okay, do you get results later or were they able to say you were okay on the spot?

I'm off to work by 9:30 in the morn :) If it's before that I can absolutely be there :D

They were able to say that I was okay on the spot. My sigmoid colon (the first third) is clean, and I don't have hemorrhoids or polyps. *whew*

They'll probably be doing the photos during the day, but if they want to do something in the evening, would you be available, and if so, after what time?

Yes available. Off work at 6:30 home by 6:50-ish. Need to go to bed by 9 at the latest because I open on Wednesday :)
