So George and I go out to the storage facility yesterday to sign the paperwork on our locker. It turns out the one that was quoted as $75 was indeed the size advertised, but was ABOVE the ground-level storage lockers, with access via a wheeled metal staircase. There was no way in Hell I was going to agree to having George or Roger go up those stairs to manhandle stuff out, and moving stuff into it would have taken a lot longer and driven up our moving costs. So we went with a ground-level locker that was slightly smaller for $95.

Congratulate us. We are now effectively paying $800/month in space rental. >.<

Still, I was glad to get it over with.

As for stuff that's left to do regarding my mother's apartment... I did most of the work on Thursday as far as clearing and packing stuff goes. Here's what I'd like to accomplish at my mother's place over the next few days.

*****************************************

SUNDAY

1) Take down her blinds; I'd like to do it while someone is there to "spot" me as I stand on a chair and wield a screwdriver to get them off the wall. After that I'll haul them down to the garbage, since one of them is damaged and the other one is quite elderly.

2) Finish packing a few things from the bedroom closet to be moved into storage.

TO BE PACKED: Punch bowl, dishes in bedroom closet, vacuum attachments.

3) TO TAKE HOME: two pillows, a jacket, a sofa pillow, a couple of small bookends, and some video tapes; also my mother’s teapot.

4) Move into the storage room whatever is not being taken by the movers (some pictures and a few boxes), except for the stuff to Goodwill, which is staying in the bedroom. Be sure to leave newspapers, packing tape, exacto knife, etc in a safe place; ALSO LEAVE GLASS CLOCK ON KITCHEN COUNTER

5) Pack up for Goodwill whatever Terri doesn’t want from the items on the bureau.

6) TERRI WILL BE TAKING HOME: Two lamps and bulbs, toaster oven.

MONDAY

1) Phone health care worker to find out where to drop off medical supplies.

2) Phone Shaw to arrange for pickup of cable modem on Thursday.

3) Phone MTS to arrange for pickup of phone on Thursday.

4) Phone caretaker to make sure we can turn in keys on Thursday late afternoon or evening, AND to get the price of the apartment after August 1st.

TUESDAY

1) Take apart and pack up the kitchen.

TO TAKE HOME: Liquid containers, pots & pans, small food processor, colander, salt & pepper shakers, toaster.

FOR BODI: Whatever she wants. :-)

TO PACK FOR GOODWILL: Everything else.

2) Take stock of cleaning supplies for Thursday; stop at Safeway and pick up any extras needed.

3) Take cat toys to animal rescue shelter.

4) Take medical supplies to drop off point.

5) TAKE HOME: A few small boxes, some artwork, two boxes of Ensure.

THURSDAY

1) Clean apartment.

2) Take any leftover stuff home (vacuum, whatever cleaning supplies we can salvage); throw out everything else.

3) Turn keys in to caretaker.

I feel better for having made the list, but I'm still having a hard time getting down to work on HB now that I have it done.
