Just found out that an online friend has cancer. They seem to have caught it early, and she's setting an attitude of determination and courage, which will certainly improve her chances of a good outcome. In the meantime, I'm saying prayers for her and preparing a healing rite for the next Full Moon ritual on August 6th, if she agrees to let me do so. She's a lovely person, and if anybody didn't deserve this kind of illness, it's her. *crosses fingers*

Yesterday's DBT session was cancelled by the facilitator, so the only thing on my plate was the Wednesday pottery class. I might as well not have gone, lol... the one pot I tried to throw came out completely misshapen and I elected to crush it. I'll use the lump of clay next session to try again, after re-wedging it, of course. Oh, well -- learning experience and all that. I'm having a hard time getting the "feel" for it into my hands, learning how to stabilize the clay on the wheel initially (the instructor's had to come over and do it for me), though I think I'm getting the hang of manipulating it once that's done.

Dropped off my latest round of sick notes at Ipsos-Reid and picked up some movies on the way home (Metropolis, Sin City, and Catwoman), as well as $250 worth of medication. Ouch, my wallet! For some reason they gave me 200 Metformin capsules at once (for the record, that's a LOT of tablets, taking up the biggest medication bottle I've ever seen.) I'll have to have a talk with the pharmacy team about why they gave me an amount of pills that doesn't count toward my Pharmacare deductible, but that's for another day.

I'm not sure what the temperature was today, but I'd guesstimate around 33 degrees Celcius, not counting the humidex. Thank the Gods the studio air conditioner is working well. Last night it seemed to have a bit of a tantrum, blowing the breaker every time we turned it on; switching it to a different plug seems to have solved that problem, though now we have a procession of extension cords running from the studio into an outlet in the kitchen. *sigh*

No word from either Hardy Boys or Marvel Masterworks about upcoming work. Am starting to get moderately nervous about this.

New books from the library today: The Pagan Book of Living and Dying by Starhawk and Gay Cinematherapy: The Queer Guy's Guide to Finding Your Rainbow One Movie at a Time by Jason Bergund and Beverly West.

Also discovered Vintage Tooncast. Download vintage cartoons in iTunes and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. I've already wasted a couple of hours on it and will probably waste many, many more.

Which version of "Metropolis"? Fritz Lang's or the Rintaro anime from 2001?

And forget most of the reviews of "Catwoman": it may not follow the comicbooks, but the story follows it's own logic... and it's got Lambert Wilson in it! ::Drools::

I've been doing my own share of video watching, too. Logan's Run down, Waterworld next. Weeee! (I know waterworld suck horse balls, but I must have my cheesey glory! Heehee! I wonder where I can find a cheapo copy of Goonies?)

I'm sorry to hear about your online friend, but it's good that they caught it early. I wish her luck, whoever she may be.

I empathize with your difficulty in pottery class. I took a ceramics course in university and I remember that centering the clay on the pottery wheel was one of the most difficult things to learn. It takes a lot more strength and control than it looks.

I saw Sin City in the theatre and I thought I should pass on a word of warning. You will never look at Pez dispensers the same way again.
