Does anyone have any idea what these are?

As [livejournal.com profile] misscassia stated: "I want one (or a hundred) for my birthday... I bet they squeak when they are squeezed."

Wow.

I was going to say "sugar gliders" but they don't have stripes. Maybe they're baby chinchillas?

No clue. I do want them, but my cat would eat them.

They are flying squirrels of the genus Glaucomys it think, but I'm not certain whether they're Northern or Southern Flying Squirrels. They're don't make good pets -- like sugar gliders they require constant handling and attention to keep them tame and they are nocturnal.

They are Japanese pygmy flying squirrels (Momonga).

The more pictures I find of them, the more my toes curl up in delight. I don't think my feet can take much more of the cuteness.

Thank you for the correction. I *knew* the Genus wasn't right, but couldn't find the right key. They are adorable, and flying squirrels generally just seem to be overendowed with the cute:
