Went out to Jeff's place last night for a few hours; first time I'd really been out of the house in days. Played a card game or two. Didn't talk much. Laughed a lot.
Racked the hell out of my throat. Woke up this morning with a lot of pain in my chest and phlegm in my lungs. No exercise today, obviously, though the Beltane gang did come over and we ran through the ritual a couple of times in rehearsal. I think it's going to be super. But what do I know? My brain is currently the consistency of Swiss cheese. :-P
Today was the first real rehearsal for Beltane in the Park (coming up on April 30th), and I have to say it went splendidly. I'm playing High Priest at this year's rite, and so have to chase the High Priestess playfully around the circle as the God "pursues" the Goddess and eventually "catches" her (all in good fun, of course); I found it much easier to get into the skin of Pan than I'd expected, and the HPS led me a merry little chase! Here's hoping it all works out as well on the day of the ritual, when instead of just giving things a runthrough, we will actually be invested with the energies of the God and Goddess.
Every other aspect of the ritual seems to be in working order. Everyone has memorized their parts, more or less, and we'll have another rehearsal on Wednesday night, our last before the day itself.
Have to be out early tomorrow morning to meet my mother for one of her doctor's appointments. Bugger. After that, I need to pay our Hydro bill and pick up some supplies to post a printout of the ritual at the Beltane site. Along the way, maybe I'll be able to pick up a small set of panpipes.
But for tonight... nothing else to do. The luxury of idleness!
