I'm feeling a bit better now than I did yesterday, in spite of having an apartment cleanup still in front of me, because I just got some good news from Danby, the company that makes the brand of air conditioner that keeps our studio cool enough for the computers to function during the summer.

About a month and a half ago we received an email from the Danby warranty department stating that we could extend the warranty on our air conditioner for $79.99 (four more years of coverage). Unfortunately, when we went to check out the link a couple of days ago we discovered that in order to pay via that method, you need a credit card, which we do not have. And the deadline for the application is July 28th.

A few days of trying to get in touch with Danby via their 1-800 number ensued, before I realized yesterday that I had transposed some of the numbers and THAT was why nobody answered when I called. Gack! By the time I caught the error it was too late to call them yesterday, so I called them this afternoon without much hope. After all, there's no way I could get a cheque to them by tomorrow, which is the deadline... right?

The warranty department assured me that it will be no problem. If I mail them a cheque early next week, they'll make sure that it gets processed. As the customer service rep said, "We're only concerned if it's something like six months after the deadline."

So, happy news -- my fat has been pulled out of the fire! I'm still feeling uneasy and out of balance, though. Hopefully getting together with friends and having a ritual this evening will help put me on a more even keel.
