The world is too full of too many things. I feel blinded and overwhelmed.
To anyone else, they'd be good news. George and I have been asked to submit samples for color on a series of European graphic novels, which have to be turned around very quickly. We still have to finish a six-pager for Heavy Metal that's been on our desks for months. Another offer from an old connection in the comics industry might have us doing a regular tie-in comic to a toy line, at DC Comics color rates ($125/page).
The big one, though, is that one of the people George used to do Captain Canuck with is putting together a comics course at Mohawk University in Brantford, Ontario. It would be a guaranteed income of $36,000/year for a 10-hour working week, which would leave George free to also do freelance assignments. The problem: it would mean moving to Brantford, possibly as soon as this July or August.
This terrifies me more than I can say. My Wiccan pursuits here in Winnipeg -- the Full Moon rituals, Beltane in the Park, possible future studies in the Black Ring line -- would be shattered. That, and the prospect of packing up our entire home -- our entire LIVES -- and relocating hundreds of miles away...
*trembles*
Well, there's no guarantee George will get the teaching position. But it's a possibility on the horizon, and it's freezing me up like a deer in the headlights.
Any words of comfort, support, or advice would be greatly appreciated.
