Phoned Quagga today to let them know that one of the sick cats is short 1 pill on their meds and needs to have one added to their regimen.
... bzuh? Confused? Read on. ;-)
It's been a while since I pilled a cat -- last night must have been the first time in several months -- so when I cornered the cat (let's call her Tilly) in her cage and popped the pill into her mouth, I was not terribly surprised to see it come shooting back out. What I did not anticipate was seeing it fly right through the bars of the cage and onto the floor, where, in spite of lying down flat on my belly and moving other cages in the vicinity, I could NOT locate it.
What to do? Get another pill and re-pill the cat, of course. This one went down like a dream, but that still left Tilly with 1 less pill than she'd been prescribed, so they'll have to ask the vet for an extra one to round out her treatment plan.
As well as discussing the missing pill with the senior volunteer on duty (who also happens to be the volunteer coordinator), we chatted about whether or not I'll be staying in the retail end of the store or moving back into the kennel. Since one of their regular volunteers (every second Friday morning) is out sick, we decided to let me take her shift in the store for the time being. So on Friday January 20th I'll be opening the store for the first time (gasp, look of horror).
Enough parenthetical references yet? (Heh.)
Today will be a Hardy Boys kind of day, although I'm also toying with the idea of making a beef stew, AND there's step training to consider. *sigh* Some days I feel like a juggler with one too many balls in the air. Wish me luck!
