I had a rough start today, but am actually feeling quite a bit better now, in part because of a song. More on that later.

Went out for lunch with Terri and Roger today, whom I haven't seen in quite a while. It was wonderful to get together with them again, and we talked about many things, including their recent vacation out east, the Selina Enriquez dust-up on GAFF and fandom_wank, and Harvey Birdman (funniest... cartoon... EVER). We ate at the Garwood Grill, a lovely little restaurant over on Pembina Highway, and I walked back home from there in order to work off the piece of blueberry pie I indulged in for dessert. To my amazement, I discovered that the Garwood is only a few blocks from my apartment! One of my favorite restaurants in Winnipeg is close enough, in fact, to easily walk over in the morning for a cup of coffee if I was so inclined. The things you don't notice when you're lucky enough to get car rides from friends!

Yes, I can be startlingly obtuse sometimes. Film at 11.

When I got home I spent a bit of time online before diving into the flats for Star Wars: Republic, plugging in my Sony Walkman while I worked. Now, one of the things that came out of the living room closet when I cleaned it was a whole stack of CDs I haven't seen since we moved, including an album by the Shamen, En-Tact, which is not as good as Boss Drum (the first album I ever heard of theirs) but has one killer track, "Move Any Mountain". *holds up hand in the Boy Scout oath position* I swear before the Gods, this song improved my mood by a significant amount as I listened to it, and I've had it on repeat for pretty much the last half hour. Not only that, but it's perfect for the Neo slot in the DegSep general soundtrack album, representing his new state of mind after becoming the One.

Tomorrow: A trip downtown to the Residential Tenancies Branch to challenge our landlord's increase in rent and to pick up a cheque from Chris for some Batman flats I laid last month. It's wonderful to be doing work you love, are suited to, and get paid for handsomely.
