The Good News leads off with a Mac Powerbook 5300cs, acquired from a local artist in exchange for about $80 worth of traded work:

Awww... isso KYYUUUUUTE! And so SMALL (2.2 H x 11.5 W x 8.5 D). And so HEAVY (6.2 lbs). And so SLOW (100 MHz PowerPC processor, 500 MB harddrive, 16 MB RAM). However, for writing and surfing the net, it's more than adequate for my needs... I still haven't gotten over the thrill of sitting in the living room and having a working computer in my lap while I watch TV. *grins with perfectly silly pleasure*

The Bad News: The Tribulations of the Uterus continue. *beats womb with a stick while screaming like a monkey on crack* BLEED, you fucker! BLEEEEEEED!

*cough* Back to the Good News: An almost completely unexpected regular project has dropped into my lap, a deal to color 28 pages of The Hardy Boys comic digest every month for NBM Papercuts, with a path into the European graphic novel market. The local colorist (same fellow I got the 5300cs from, coincidentally) on the book couldn't do it due to scheduling conflicts, and recommended me for the job. The fact that I ghosted 20 pages of the last issue didn't hurt my chances.

The Bad News: They only pay $40/page.

The Good News: Each page is manga size, quite small, and they want manga-style modelling, which means a midtone, a shadow, and the occasional graduated tone. Easy peasy.

The Bad News: I got the job, but because the schedule has been fumbled by others at various stages, I have to process 60 pages by the end of February. That's... counting up... nine days, give or take. GAH!

More Bad News: *screams, keeps beating on uterus*

Even More Bad News: Because of the murderous deadline on Hardy Boys, I have to postpone the AI RP session I'd scheduled for new Saturday. That, and miss the Shadowblood game that was scheduled for the day after. *headdesk, headdesk, headdesk...*

The Good News: A new player over at [livejournal.com profile] mtx_deg_sep has introduced a new species of character into the mix.

Good News/Bad News: I've almost got the 2-CD compilation "soundtrack" for DegSep finalized and all the songs collected. Must post to the LJ community. Should have done this much earlier, but life, she gets in the way.

Grg... that seems to be all for now.

For the last couple of months, I've been working on a soundtrack for the DegSep universe, and at last have something like a final playlist knocked together.

Players, this is your challenge: Help me out where there are gaps. Make suggestions, especially as far as songs for your own characters go. I wouldn't mind it expanding to a 4-CD set, provided the music is all good. And of course, all players will get a copy of the final burn.

Becca, feel free to add a song or two appropriate to the orcs somewhere in the mix.

EDIT: On reflection, what I could really use help with is a song for Neo, pre-Eros. Something expressing the splinter-in-the-mind concept, and his troubled mix of anger, resignation, and rebellion. Suggestions?

EDIT 2: Neo's pre-Eros song... "Sleeping Awake" from the Reloaded soundtrack. D'oh! So obvious, so raw, so human, and it fits so well with the stark despair of "Rain", Smith's Image Song pre-Eros.
