Tiring day...

Out at 9:45 am to the Winnipeg Humane Society, waaaaay across the city, to count change from donation boxes for their annual Tag Day fundraiser. Within five minutes of arriving I managed to cut the tip of my right index finger (yes, my drawing hand) quite badly, and bleed all over the place. Where did the injury come from? It's a complete mystery, and it hurts like a bitch when I type or use the stylus to draw.

In the volunteer centre, they'd set up a display about the new WHS centre they're building in the next couple of years -- a MUCH expanded facility which will be capable of handling the 9,000-10,000 animals per year the Society processes (their current facility was only designed for 2,500). Looking over it, I found my faith in the design firm compromised by the fact that they misspelled "exercise" four times on the site plan. >.< Ah, the joys of being an English major!

(Note: the floor plan you see online is substantially different from the floorplan on display today or in their recent fundraising handouts. *facepalm* These people REALLY need to get some competant people in their web design department...)

Four hours later, my shift over, I headed back downtown and stopped at The Bay, looking for a skirt for the belly dancing class. Found one for $6, and not too hideous a print either (pale Chinese dragons on a dark teal background), as well as a brown velvety full-length sun dress for about $12 (which will go beautifully with the ladies dress shirt I found at the Salvation Army Thrift Store last week). Then back to my end of town for a quick stop at Radiance to pick up a copy of Llewellyn's 2006 Magical Almanac, which contains the dates of full moons for the entire year -- a real bonus, since I plan to keep running Full Moon rituals during the coming year. A hop next door to Bread & Circuses netted me a nice dinner, and then home again, home again, jiggety jig...

Oh, and I saw the most gorgeous shawl in Radiance: a black velvet one with silver flecks and a green leaf -and-Earth-mother pattern on it. :-)~~~~ A bit too expensive for my tastes, more's the pity, but oh so beautiful to look at and touch!

Tomorrow: getting down to business and laying flats. Looks like we'll have to fire up the air conditioner since the temperature is supposed to hit 30 degrees Celcius. *groan* If I could, I'd work all night in the cool, but my back is killing me and I'm absolutely beat.
