Well... eventually.
I saw my GP today, who is of the opinion that whatever infection was afflicting me has been driven out by the truncated course of antibiotics. As for the PMS symptoms that the evening primrose oil was going to treat, he recommended black cohosh, devil's claw, and a couple of other herbal remedies. (Why he did not mention them prior to this is a mystery that I wasn't inclined to quiz him on, at least not today.) He agrees that fibroids might be behind the heavier bleeding these last couple of years and has put me in for an ultrasound -- which, given that it's an elective scan, will probably take until well after my periods have actually stopped. The ultrasound will also give him a good picture of my kidneys and pelvis, where the left hip has started to pain me these last couple of days.
Had lunch at Perkins, and stopped at the florist shop in The Courts of St. James to pick up a sprig of daisies to put on the altar in front of my mother's ashes, in honor of Mother's Day. I'm making meatloaf, rice, and veggies for dinner tonight, so I'll put out a small food offering as well later on.
Am just nibbling on some Peak Freans Cranberry Citrus Oat Crunch cookies along with a cup of tea. They're not bad tasting and they've got some fibre in them, for what it's worth.
Time to go mix up the meatloaf.

Speaking of alternative health, I strongly suggest anyone who is taking natural health remedies to investigate a Bill C-51 that is currently being proposed in parliament. If it passes, it will basically allow pharmaceutical companies to fast track new drugs to market, while making upwards of 70% of natural health remedies illegal. To find out more, check out www.stopc51.com. If this bill passes, it may become a lot harder to buy things like evening primrose oil, black cohosh or devil's claw in Canada. If this sounds as scary to you as it does to me, please call your MP and find out how he/she intends to vote on it, and if they are thinking of voting for it or are still undecided, tell them you want them to vote against it.
