I took my first Effexor tablet last night, and my second one about half an hour ago. I felt a little dizzy and sick, but apparently that's to be expected, so I'm not too worried about it. At least I managed to complete my shift today at Ipsos-Reid -- yesterday, I was so badly off that I had to cancel.
The period showed up yesterday also (and there was much rejoicing... "yay"). I'm bleeding like a stuck pig, which is something new as of last month. Peri-menopause? I hope so, because that's the least alarming of the possible reasons.
An excellent session of roleplay chat with MR last night got me out of my own head for a while, which was a very good thing. Sure, it was full of angst and drama, but it wasn't MY angst and drama, so it was entertaining rather than nervewracking.
Also got an email from Kaja Foglio saying that the latest issue of Girl Genius that I colored arrived at their studio from the printers, and looks fantastic. *grin*
And now, off to kill a bit of time in Yahoo! Religion chat before going to bed. I'm actually feeling pretty good, and what a marvelous mercy that is.

Glad to hear you're doing a little better. A friend of mine, we'll call her J., was on Effexor and had the same side effects at first, but they went away for her.
I remember when I first went on Paxil, that was a trip. I was hit by exhaustion and felt dizzy and nauseous. The dizzyness/nausea went away after about a week, the tiredness afer a few weeks. And it's done wonders for me. Not the magical-happy-pill of course, but nothing is..it just takes the edge off so i can deal with things better. One wierd thing i noticed is that i'm able now to concentrate on even something simple like watching a movie..when my GAD was really bad, i couldn't. I wish you luck with Effexor, i have heard it's a good med and isn't as invasive as some.
as for the period, it could be peri-menopause, but could also be related to your medication change..anything like that can throw off your cycle. Also, change in weather can do it, and stress..it can be your body's way of cleansing built up tension and upsets from the previous month, is how i look at it.
I am sooooooo happy you're feeling better today :-D !!!!
As for the kitty update- some unfortunate news. The guy with the kittens is being an ass tard so I might be forced to go someplace else if he doesn't smarten up by tomorrow evening **whimper** That female is soooooo cute, tho, and I don't want to giver her up !!!!
On another note: We must meet up for chocolate and fries. New York Fries does a killer 'works' dish that consists of cheese sauce, chili, sour cream and green peppers **orgasms** Ahem :-P :-D
Again- Glad to see you're feeling better today :-D **Dances about throwing flowers and Hershy Kisses**

My mother hit full menopause at 42, and I'm coming up on 40, so peri-menopause is the most likely explanation for what I'm experiencing (which, in the last year or so, has included a 23-31 day interval between periods). Previously I was on 28-30 days, so the fluctuation is a sign that something is definitely up. I had a pap smear pelvic exam about 8 months ago to make sure it wasn't something more ominous, but it's "all clear on the southern front", lol.
Re: I am sooooooo happy you're feeling better today :-D !!!!
I know what you mean about hating to take pills... bleh. :-P But it's better than the alternative, for me, anyway.
I read your LJ about the kittens. Bugger! However, you really SHOULD get that lump in your neck looked at. If it's an infected gland and full of pus, and it bursts, you could end up in the hospital on an antibiotic drip for a few days (man, do I sound like someone's grandmother, or what? :-P)
It's great that aislingfae might be able to help you out with cat food and stuff. Yay!
New York Fries... mmmmmm... chheeeeeeessseee saaaauuuucccceee....
*smacks down the Effexor, which is making me flighty, and goes off to reply to the next post... ;-)*

Thanks for posting the message about Sammy to Fellowship and kittypix, BTW... :-)
Re: I am sooooooo happy you're feeling better today :-D !!!!
Yeah. I'm going to go get that lump looked at on Monday. I hope it can last that long. The good news is that it's starting to shrink and it's no-where as sore as it was.
The other good news? Yer going to have to read my LiveJournal for that **Laugh's Evilly, then pops her pills**
Catch ya later :-D
