I dragged myself from a hot bath to the computer to type this update. Man! An evening of walking around town looking at apartments can sure take it out of you if you're not used to it.

Of the 4 apartments we viewed, 3 are possibilities. The best one is only a few blocks away from our current location, just off Corydon Avenue in Winnipeg's Little Italy district. It's a 2 bedroom, is fairly large, has a circular traffic pattern (cat races, anyone?), AND in spite of a stated 'ABSOLUTELY NO PETS!' policy on their application form, a little patched tabby very similar to my own Emmie came running to meet us when we entered the suite. "We allow cats," the superintendent explained with a smile, "everyone in the building has one!"

Actually we saw 2 suites in that block, but the one on the third floor with the circular traffic pattern is larger, better laid out, and cheaper. The building has no buzzer system, but the fire escape is open to the outside and visitors (if they're quiet) can sneak up and knock on our back door if need be. The main bedroom is easily big enough for a large art studio, and there's even space to hold the occasional ritual, if we're not too big a circle.

And it's in the upper end of our price range. Tomorrow, in goes the application!

As for the other 2 suites, one turned out to be in a lousy area of town and badly kept up AND much too small. The other was the most modern we've seen yet, but is also a tad small for my tastes. However, it does back onto a fair-sized park that goes right down to the river, where in the past local Wiccans have held outdoor worship services. That could be a big, big plus.
