I got up an hour ago, at an ungodly time as far as I'm concerned, to help George out the door to an appointment. A friend of his recommended him for a job drawing four comic book pages (two covers and two "splash" pages" for a TV series, so he's off to meet with the producers.

It's -32 degrees Celcius outside. Better him than me.

So now I'm mostly awake (taking the Ritalin an hour before I have to rise is working like a charm), have half a cup of coffee in me, and face the prospect of a day FULL of MM -- not an unpleasant one, but it entails a lot of work. The first order of business is to finish doing line recon on the last page.

Some days this industry kills me, but today I'm glad to be a part of it.

So George got home at around 3:30 pm, half-frozen. The bus driver missed calling out his stop on the way to see the client (at a bus stop out in the middle of nowhere) and George ended up being a little over thirty minutes late to his appointment, including an extremely icy twenty-five minutes waiting at another bus stop in the middle of nowhere to see whether a cab or a bus would come first. Fortunately he was able to keep in touch with me every step of the way via cellphone... and boy, was I seething. That kind of delay could have cost him the project.

Fortunately, it looks like it hasn't. We just got an email from the art director in response to our quote, asking us to scale it down by about one third. We did, because we REALLY need any money at all at this point.

Equally fortunately, the art director was able to give him a lift downtown, which saved him quite a bit of time on the return trip (which included a stop at PharmaPlus to pick up a prescription for me). When he got home he immediately climbed into a hot bath, then stayed up long enough to write a couple of emails and do a bit of Internet surfing before crawling into bed for an exhausted nap. He's currently sleeping like a log -- which leaves me in the position of cooking dinner. Bleah. Ah, well, Hamburger Helper (Four Cheese Lasagna flavor) to the rescue!

I've got seven pages of MM done so far. My target for today is at least thirteen pages. Also bleah. At about the nine page mark my right hand is probably going to start cramping, but I'll just have to push through it.

Okay, so dinner took a bit longer than I'd planned. We got to watching Mad TV while we ate and it's a great time-waster.

The Four Cheese Lasagna Hamburger Helper was... meh. Not as good as the original lasagna mix, but I'm glad we tried it. I'd like to try some of the generic Safeway brand mixes sometime to see how much (if any) difference there actually is.

George has agreed to give me a hand with MM. Yayness. This means I'll only have to finish three more pages today instead of five or six.

Tomorrow is the Full Moon Group's Yule ritual, which will carve a few hours out of my schedule. Not that I really mind -- it will be a nice mental break from the color-color-color mentality I've been in these last few days.

Back to work while George cleans up the dinner mess.
