Back-breaking, grinding depression. Think I'll take a Seroquil and go back to bed. I can't think straight anyway.

Seroquil is my friend. It knocked me flat, and I slept for three or four hours before I started tossing and turning and just couldn't sleep anymore. *sigh* Time to get up and greet the day. Er, late afternoon.

George helped me get out and walking by going out with me, kind fellow that he is. I insisted I needed ice cream as a pacifier given my internal misery level, so our first stop was the the local Shell gas station to get a Haagan Daas vanilla-almond ice cream bar (27 g of carbs and worth every single damned one of them). From there we strolled toward the Food Fare, stopping at Gluttons, a specialty food store, to check out the availability of low-fat cheese (they have something like 30 varieties but only one under 20% BF, a rather unremarkable Gouda). While we were there, we also scoped out some of their "ready for dinner" wares, including half-Cornish game hens, salmon cakes, tiny whole roasted squabs, and chicken breasts in gravy wrapped in bacon. :-)~~~~~

We left with 100 g of Gouda (at $2.50) and hit Food Fare for more affordable stuff, including some no-sugar-added ice cream (dammit, when I feel this bad, I NEED that sweet tooth stroked) and Diet Coke with Lime. The Diet Coke turned out to be quite a disappointment: it tastes heavily of lime, but the rest of it is a distinctly weak Coke, giving an overall effect only slightly more satisfying than plain water.

We're thinking of having Terri and Roger over on the weekend for supper. Squab, perhaps? Tomorrow I'm going to phone my psychiatrist and talk over this dip in mood. If it is the birth control pills (which I've just hit Day 11 of), I will be very displeased -- but I literally can't get any work done like this. It's been two full days since I touched Girl Genius.

I just had about 20 g more of carbs than I'm supposed to for my dinner (I figure I ingested about 80 g, where the limit is supposed to be 60 g). Thank the Nestle No-Sugar-Added ice cream for that. And you know what? I really don't care.

What is it about chocolate ice cream that is just SO good for what ails you emotionally?
