Recently seen/read about in the war in Iraq...
From a Lt. Colonel Nathan Sassaman, a batallion commander in charge of searching, bulldozing, and bombing the village of Abu Hishma, which had some suspected resistance activity:
"With a heavy dose of fear and violence, and a lot of money for projects, I think we can convince these people that we're here to help them."
(Crowdog66 gapes at that phrase... picks it up, turns it around, looks at it from another angle... and another angle... and ano -- no, sorry, it sounds bad no matter HOW you look at it!)
There's a sign on the razor wire that surrounds the village of Abu Hishma, and it says this: "This fence is here for your protection. Do not approach or try to cross, or you will be shot."
War is peace. Black is white. "Arbeit Machs Frei". (10 points to anyone who recognizes all three of those references!)
