After-the-Weekend Update, with crowdog66

Saturday:

Kathy's wiccaning ceremony for her two children. I thought it went fairly well as a ritual, and the altar looked just gorgeous, but having just received photos from her via email... GAH! I looked horrible. 0_o Is that what I look like all the time? If so, yikes... old, dumpy, and somewhat ill. *shudders* It makes me want to crawl into a deep hole and never come out, much less run any future ceremonies.

Unfortunately, I'm committed to running a New Moon ritual this coming Saturday. Bugger.

Sunday:

Lunch out with Terri and Roger, which was excellent, followed by an AD&D session with Jeff in the evening. Who knew that 300 grams of nuts would cost almost $10? (And no, that's a reference to the Scoop & Save I visited with T&R, not Jeff's game!)

Today:

Went out with George for breakfast at the Garwood Grill, then over to a local school to vote in the federal elections. Unfortunately, it's a Conservative minority government. Grrrrrrrrr! Here's hoping Stephen Harper WON'T turn out to the be right-wing demagogue so many people were afraid he'd be. Our future Prime Minister has even promised to re-open the same sex marriage debate, trying to return Canada to a more "traditional" culture and definition of marriage. *beats head against the wall* Yes, I understand that some people felt a need to punish the Liberals for the sponsorship scandal, but voting Conservative? That's really cutting your nose off to spite your face. Please, Gods, let us not live to regret it bitterly.

For the record, George and I voted Liberal. ;-) As a pair of artistic bisexuals, this is any real surprise?

Hey, you. Tune in with us tonight? *weak smile*

Hope you're okay.

I think the election was best summed up on a weblog called "the black rod" that talks about local politics: "Hmm..do you want to eat horseshit or dog shit?" and we're forced to pick up our forks and chew. Gross imagery, but true.
I read the only way that the PM could get rid of legalized gay marriage would be to do a non withstanding clause, and he's promised not to do that..but then again, politicians and promises usually don't mix.

Ugh.

ps. you DO NOT look old and dumpy!!!! Seriously, you are lovely! The camera can be very cruel. I should know. I got my court ID taken yesterday and i looked like a big red tomato (i was wearing a red shirt) who just got out of the pen. Yuck.

I strongly second the motion. Cameras are not nice creatures, so don't let the beasties get your heart in a knot.

All in favour of the motion say, "Aye".

*grin* Thanks for the words of encouragement! Much appreciated.

*smile* Thanks... yeah, cameras can be cruel things indeed. And I just saw Kathy this evening, and discovered that SHE felt that she looked absolutely terrible in the photos, when I thought she looked just fine.

I guess we're all overly sensitive to our own images.

After-the-Weekend update

Hi Laurie,

I quite agree with you re the election. Unfortunately, we have more rural areas than urban ones in this country... and it seems that the hicks of Canada have taken over the asylum! Gods be merciful!

I have a cat carrier if you ever require one again. I'd be happy to loan it to you whenever you'd like.

Really enjoyed seeing you the other day... our walnuts were $8.00!! Good thing we "saved" by going there;).

Take Care,

Terri

We'll have to get together again sometime soon. :-) And thanks for the offer of the cat carrier... I might take you up on that in a couple of weeks, when we have to take Emmie back to the vet to get the staples out of her poor l'il butt.
