Check this out...

You think crossposting stuff to FaceTwit is bad? That's not even the BEGINNING of what LJ is doing.

Basically it looks like a function that allows you to "share" other people's entries not just on FaceTwit, but on a ton of other services, including Digg, Bebo, AIM Share, and Fark.

Thought it couldn't get any worse? So did I.

I've been making my transition, so I haven't been spending much time over there anymore and I missed this.
I guess I should go about deleting that journal soon. :[

Oh. Holy. Cow.
Maybe 10k angry replies on their latest news post weren't enough to tell them how much we didn't like it? *growls*

I'm seriously appreciating DW right now, and glad I bailed ship from LJ like a drowning rat.

Truth be told, that really is a very common thing; I've seen such links all over the place on other sites I visit. And it does have positive non-privacy-creepy connotations for people whose journals are their professional face, not their private one.

Where LJ has been going wrong, as far as I'm concerned, is failing to respond to the concerns or requests for opt-outs. Or even to acknowledge their own base. That's where I think they, in Jeff's old phrase, suck nuclear weasel penises. Through a straw.

It seems to show up only on public entries, at least. But I think individual people should have the options to turn this kind of thing on and off as they choose.
